Oh how I love decorating for a party and it’s about a million times more fun to decorate in red, white, and blue. Last year I created this fun red, white, and blue BBQ in collaboration with Western Gardens and am excited to share more about it with you today.
I’ve collected Red, White, and Blue BBQ Decor over the years and love pulling it out and putting it all together. Layering paper fans and banners remains one of my favorite ways to decorate and I love the way these all look together!
Red, White, and Blue BBQ DECOR
I’m going to help you find all this fun decor too. As I said above I love to collect Red, White, and Blue BBQ decor so this wasn’t all purchased recently but I know a lot of it is still readily available.
Paper Fans and Confetti (My Mind’s Eye)
Stars & Stripes and Flag Banner and Red, White, and Blue Pails (Target Dollar Spot)
Table Skirt, Blue and Silver Star Garland (Zurchers Party Store)
RWB Balls in the vase and Fountain Type vase decor (Hobby Lobby)
Light box and Letters (Heidi Swapp)
One thing I have learned that has really helped the decor come together is to pick a focal piece or pieces and build around them. While it may look at a glance like the focal piece of my red, white, and blue BBQ decor is the paper fan with the star in the middle I really wanted the Stars and Stripes banner to be the center of everything. I put that up first and then built around it with the flag banner and other star banners. Don’t be afraid to layer, my favorite looks are lots of layers.
Once I had my banners up I started to place my paper fans around them. They help cover the ends of the banners and just add so much fun to the decor. After I had all the fans in place and the backdrop pretty much complete I started setting the table. I love the Heidi Swapp light box, I love that it’s a quick, easy, and fun way to add to the decor. Don’t be afraid to add some height to your tablescape, especially if you won’t be eating at the table. If the decor won’t be a distraction or interruption for your guests use vases, jars, branches, etc to add even more texture to your red, white, and blue BBQ decor. My Mind’s Eye has the coolest *confetti* I believe that is what it is called, for the 4th of July they have these great red, white, and blue stars that look great spread across the table and add just a bit more to the whole look.
I also try when possible to match my dishes to the decor. I am lucky that in my everyday dishes I have red and blue bowls and platters. If you don’t have them in your every day dishes like I do often times grocery stores and even the dollar store have bowls and serving dishes in a variety of colors and especially in the colors of the current season.
The great thing about all these supplies is with just a little care they will last for years, even that cute table skirt has been reused multiple times because I take the time at the end of the BBQ to fold things up and put them away so they’re ready to use again the next time I need them. Just make sure your guests know which items you intend to keep if they’re helping clean up after the party!
All this talk about this fun BBQ has me dreaming of delicious BBQ foods! Stay tuned for a round-up of some of our very favorite BBQ menu items, they’re perfect for the 4th of July and delicious too!
