Around Thanksgiving, I saw the cute cornucopias made from roll dough. I thought for Easter it would be fun to make some Crescent Roll Carrots using the same general technique. I think these turned out so cute! You can fill them with anything you like, but for these I picked my homemade Chicken Salad.
Crescent Roll Carrots
1 can crescent roll sheet
non stick spray
1/2 cup water
orange food coloring
Preheat oven to 375°F or the temperature listed on the instructions of your crescent roll dough. Form foil into a cone shape. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but you will want it more thick around so there will be room to stuff. Unroll the crescent roll dough and using a pizza cutter, slice lengthwise into 8 pieces. Fold each strip in half and pinch together edge to make a long rope. Spray the foil cones with non stick spray and wrap the crescent roll rope around it starting at the bottom. Mix the orange food coloring with your water and brush on the rolls. Bake for 10-12 minutes. After baking, let cook for a few minutes before carefully removing the foil cone form. Slice green onions into long strips, fill cones with chicken salad or desired filling and finish by sticking green onion strips into the top.
Here is a quick video of how I put it all together. They are pretty simple to do and even kids can help with it. Add any filling that you’d like…I’m tempted to try them again with a sweet, cheesecake type filling! Make sure you check back on Friday for our delicious recipe for homemade Chicken Salad! Enjoy!
