I was very intrigued to get to partner with Mimi’s Cafe to try out a new, seasonal menu item for them. I had never been there before and had no idea what to expect. It was such a positive experience I really can’t wait to go back again!
The new menu item I got to try was the Honey Lavender Grilled Pork Chop. This recipe was part of a contest held by Mimi’s Cafe to find a new, delicious menu item that would fall under their theme of French inspired American comfort food. The winner, Michael Watz of Evanston, Illinois hit the nail on the head with this recipe! Now I’m a lover of pork chops, but to be honest I’d only ever had it prepared pan fried or breaded and baked at home. At Mimi’s Cafe, their Honey Lavender Grilled Pork Chop was perfectly prepared and was incredibly tender and juicy. The seasoning was great and the flavor of the honey and lavender were a great pairing that didn’t over power the pork chop itself. It was served with a delicious salad of mixed greens, green apples, goat cheese, cranberries and walnuts with a balsamic dressing. Now, I didn’t want my opinion to be the only one, so I had each of the friends that I dined with try it also. It was a unanimous decision that it was a wonderful entree that is definitely something we would all recommend.
I need to give a shout out to the rest of our meal too which was easily just as delicious! (Full disclosure, our meal was comped, but the opinions are 100% my own) Before our meal we had the Warm Spinach Artichoke Dip, which was wonderful. It was creamy and delicious without being heavy before your main course. They also brought out their delicious bread basket which included the most amazing Carrot Raisin Bread that I would LOVE the recipe for!
The other entrees we tried were the Chicken Chop Salad (which was served with a yummy Pumpkin Muffin that we all died over), Grilled Atlantic Salmon, and the Roasted Chicken Crepes. Happily enough, you couldn’t find a complaint among us! We truly loved everything we tried. To cap off our meal, we shared a Pumpkin Cheesecake Slab Pie. Holy cow! This seasonal dessert was recommended to us by our server and was just fantastic! Not to mention that it was more than enough for all of us to share.
All in all from the atmosphere, to the amazing food, to the super fun staff, it was a great meal! I can’t wait to go back again and try more of the menu to see what else Mimi’s Cafe has to offer. It was really a great first time experience! Make sure you go and try the Honey Lavender Grilled Pork Chop for your next date night or GNO. If you’ve been to Mimi’s Cafe before, tell me what your favorite menu item is! I’d love some ideas for what I should try there next!
