While I was perusing Pinterest, I saw SO many adorable Valentine wreaths. I didn’t have one yet to go with my Valentine’s decor so I thought now was as good a time as any to whip one up. This wreath was SO easy to put together, it took me less than an hour to complete it!
Here is what you’ll need to create this Valentine wreath!
1 foam wreath form
1 skein white yarn
3 pink 8 x 10 felt pieces
2 red 8 x 10 felt pieces
Take your wreath form and wrap your yard around it snugly. You can wrap the yarn side by side for a smooth look, but I prefer to have the yarn crossing and overlapping to give it more dimension. You can use as much yarn or as little as you want. For mine I used a little over half of the skein. Once you are done wrapping, just tie off the end and snip the excess yarn tail. Next you are going to want to add your flowers. For creating the dahlia flower, I followed this tutorial from Not Martha to make the petals. Instead of gluing mine, I used straight pins to stick them in the foam wreath. For my red roses I cut 16 – 2 inch circles and folded them in half. Then I folded the half circle into thirds, folding each end into the middle, to make it look more like a rose. Using straight pins again, I stuck the pin in the bottom of the felt and stuck it into the foam wreath. I used 7 for my bottom rose and 9 for my top one. You can make the roses as big or small as you want by using more or less circles.
The LOVE banner was super easy. I just cut triangles out of the felt, snipped little holes to feed the yarn through and placed the stickers on the triangles. I tied each end of the yarn around the wreath and there you have it! A super cute, super easy Valentine’s wreath! Now Angela is going to share with you how she made hers!
I’ve always wanted to make a wreath using this technique with felt and I thought this Valentine wreath would be a fun one to try making. I have a window that sits on my shelf in my front room and it looked very bare with my other decorations. I thought this wreath would give my window the pop of color it needed. I love how easy this wreath came together with using very few supplies.
Heart foam wreath (found at Hobby Lobby)
1 yard of red felt
Scissors or (cutting machine if you have one)
Step 1. You will need to cut around 200 3- inch circles. I just found a pattern online and traced my circles onto my felt and then I cut and cut and cut my circles. Jenn and I laugh about this because I told her my hands were about to fall off from cutting circles and she asked me why I wasn’t using my Cricuit to cut out my circles. WOW! Why wasn’t I using my cricuit???? The moral of this story is if you have any kind of cutting machine use it! It will go much faster! If you don’t have one it’s fine just sit down on the couch and catch up on your television shows and cut away!!!
Step 2. Take your circle and fold it in half and then fold it in half again.
Step 3. Stick a pin in the corner of the felt and push it into your wreath.
This part actually went really fast. It’s also fun to see how fluffy the wreath becomes as you add more circles!
I think this wreath definitely gives the window the pop of color that I was looking for. To hang the wreath I just took a piece of heart ribbon and pinned it into the back of the wreath. I love how this turned out I’m excited to make more of these wreaths using different colors of felt for the different holidays!
