Our family loves homemade Oreo cookies. I thought it would be fun to make a Halloween version of these cookies. You probably already have all the ingredients in your pantry if you are like me and buy devils food cake mixes at the case lot sale. You probably don’t but you should that way you always have them on hand and can make these cookies whenever you want. These cookies are so soft and yummy it’s hard to only eat one!
1 box devils food cake mix
1/3 cup of oil
1 can of cream cheese frosting ( I used the orange colored frosting in the can)
Yes only 3 ingredients ! How easy is that??
1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Then you will empty the cake mix into a bowl and add the eggs and oil and mix together well. The dough will be thick.
3. Next place the dough onto a ungreased cookie sheet or parchment paper. Roll the dough into little balls, I make mine on the smaller size because I like my cookies more the size of an actual Oreo. I also figure the smaller you make them the more there is to eat. 🙂
4.Cook for 8 minutes and then take them out and let them cook for 2 more minutes on the cookie sheet before transferring them onto a cooling rack. They are a soft cookie you don’t want to over cook them.
5. After the cookies have cooled down take your frosting ( I used the orange colored canned frosting) and spread one cookie with the frosting, then sandwich with another cookie. Then I dumped some sprinkles into a bowl and rolled the frosted cookie into the sprinkles.
When my kids came home from school and saw these cookies on the counter they could hardly wait to eat one! I thought they turned out cute and would be a perfect dessert for a Halloween party or a fun treat to make after school with your kids. They could all decorate them in different ways!
