I’m sure I’m not the only one who remembers doing tissue paper crafts in elementary school. I don’t know why, but these were always my favorites. And one of the best parts is, a lot of the supplies you might already have at home!
Here is what you’ll need…
Colored tissue paper (I chose red, orange and yellow), cut into 1″ x 1″ squares
Brown construction paper
Construction paper for background (I chose blue)
Small triangle of orange paper
I freehanded the shape of the turkey. I kind of just made it the shape of a bowling pin. 🙂 I got four turkey bodies from one 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. Then I glued it down to my background piece of construction paper. After that I freehand drew the turkey feathers.
You can make as many feathers as you want. If you are doing it for younger kids, I would do less and make them smaller. Gluing the tissue paper can be kind of time consuming. 🙂
Next you are going to take the tissue paper squares one at a time and twist them around the eraser end of a pencil, dip it in the glue and then stick it to the paper. I think it’s easiest to start from the end of the feather that is closest to the turkey body and go out from there.
After you’ve gotten all your feathers done, glue on your eyes and beak. I just used a black sharpie to draw the feet.
And there you have it! A fun and easy craft to help decorate your house for Thanksgiving! 🙂
