The boy’s bedroom has been a work in progress for a LONG while now. This next step in the progress has me possibly more excited than the rest of the projects.
Ana White has done it again with her amazing tutorial for a book shelf (or shelf of any kind) made from an old pallet.
I am just going to share a bunch of pictures because Ana’s tutorial explains it perfectly. Wanna know the coolest part of this project for me? I did it all 100% myself. I picked out the pallets I wanted (free YAY), I cut them apart, I put them back together, I sanded them, I painted them, I sanded them again and then stained them. Last but not least I hung them on the walls myself! Nate’s not gonna get much credit for this room once it’s done and that makes me more excited than you know.
On to the pictures…
I’m still not ready for the full bedroom reveal. I keep thinking we’re getting closer (and we are) then I think of the 20 other things I still want to do and get a little discouraged.
I have a question for you (hopefully you read this far). I’ve been going back and forth and back and forth on the ladder for the beds. When I painted the beds we didn’t think the ladder was available (long story short these are my husband’s bunks from when he was young and the ladder was found later) and so it didn’t get painted. It is the original color as the beds were, right now I am loving the wood and am not in a hurry to paint it, it matches the tops of the dressers and desk but I’m not 100% sure it isn’t laziness that is making me so happy with it still being wood. My friend Katie told me tonight that she likes the wood too so now I am putting it to a vote – if this was in your house would you paint the ladder or would you leave it wood? HELP!
Since I’m not ready for a full reveal yet I’ll share the links to the old posts for the beds and dressers in case you want to see how we’ve gotten to this point:
Thanks for reading and hopefully I’ll have more and more to share in the next little bit!
