On Monday I held a little get together for Halloween. It’s an annual thing I’ve put on for a number of years. It started because I have some friends who live on what used to be an unfriendly street. Not that the people on the street are unfriendly, they are all quite nice actually! There just used to be no side walks or good lighting. I make a big pot of soup and we eat some dinner and then send the kids out to “terrorize” The neighborhood:)
8oz cream cheese, softened
2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 cup chopped ham
1 green onion, chopped
1/4 tsp hot sauce
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
French bread loaf
In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients, except French bread; stirring until well blended.
Cut a thin slice from top of bread loaf; set slice aside. Using a gentle sawing motion, cut vertically to, but not through, bottom of the loaf, 1/2 inch from the edge, to cut out center of bread. Lift out center of loaf. Fill hollowed bread loaf with the dip. Wrap loaf with foil.
Bake dip at 350° degrees for 1 hour. Serve with reserved bread cubes, crackers, or potato chips.
1 bag of tortilla chips
16 oz box of Velveeta Cheese, cubed
15 oz can Hormel Chili (no beans, and not chunky)
1 c. milk
4 t. chili powder
2 t. paprika
1 T lime juice
1/2 t. ground cayenne
1/2 t. ground cumin
Combine all ingredients in a med size saucepan. Place over medium heat. Stir frequently until the cheese is melted. Reduce heat, and let simmer for 20 minutes. Serve with tortilla chips.
