So…do you remember the furniture for the boy’s bedroom?
Wouldn’t you think with ALL of that done that their bedroom would be complete? I mean that is the hard work, refinishing all the furniture right? Nope!
Their furniture is down in their room and it looks great but it’s not even close to being done yet.
The walls all need to be repainted (same color they currently are but a new fresh coat needs to be done), I need to finish their magnet board, I need to get their wall decor done and ready to be hung and I have GOT to figure out what I want for their bedding (I have an idea but haven’t found the perfect one yet).
Tell me I’m not alone, tell me that you too get a great start on something and then hit a wall and just stop for a while…
I am making a goal to have their room done before the end of the year. With 5 birthdays (in just our family of 9) in the next month and a half along with numerous other family birthdays and 2 rather large holidays coming up I can’t really expect to have it all done before then but I’d like to try.
So, show me your project that you’re at a stand still with – if you need help tell us and maybe we can figure it out.
This is what I need help with! I need bedding – cute but practical and hopefully not too expensive since I need 2 sets of it. The boy’s room is going to have a farm type theme and I want bedding that isn’t farm themed. I want plaids and a quilt but I don’t want a barn or farm animals on the actual bedding just in case they decide they hate it in a year.
So I’m just gonna put that out there – you can see their furniture so show me what you’ve got or that you’ve seen that you think would be perfect!
I’m counting on you!

Hi Jenn, Thank you for linking to Tuesday’s Nursery! I totally get the starting a project and then getting stuck – story of my decorating life for the past several years! I have yet to do my boys rooms; so I’ll do their bath first as its less work! I’m hoping to be well into it by the next T.N. on Dec 6th – that’s my goal. You could make that your goal too – just get something…anything done by then! Each month we’ll post our progress.
For your bedding, I recently saw the PB Kids “Madras” quilt & sham. A twin quilt is $129 – high, but it should last for several years. It has many colors so I think decorating around it will be easy – just pick 2 colors to pop, and it will go well with both the light & dark furniture. Target also has a plaid, fewer colors but half the price! Then you could get themed sheets and if you change from the farm theme all you need to do is change sheets!
My boys are 5 & 6 and they’ve never NOT liked a theme over the past few years. I’m planning on doing a transportation theme in their bedroom and then farm in the playroom (or vise-versa). I’ve been planning this for 5 years – never got to it at our old house, then moved, and now still “planning on doing it….!!” Hope this helped – see you Dec 6th!
Jenn-
I had a special need for my kids room too. I didn’t want to pay much, and since we are currently renting, the wall color is what it is. I also have a boy and a girl in the same room…another challenge. I found great bedding at Overstock.com. They have some really great prices and shipping is CHEAP! I got them quilts…unfortunately the twin size for their bunkbeds didn’t exist. However, with such a good price, I bought Queens and trimmed it down for their size. It was really pretty simple and the price was excellent.

I love the PB madras bedding that Nan mentioned too, but it is pricey. How about something with a hankerchief-type print. I’m not sure if it exists, but hankerchiefs are cheap and you could make a quilt out of red and blue ones???
I’ve never actually seen this other than in my head just now. Good luck! Can’t wiat to see how it turns out.

Thank you for your help. Sadly things are still at quite a standstill with the other 900 things going on but we did get major organizing done in there and at least it is all ready for new toys now 😀
